When cloning the repository with git-lfs installed you get:

This repository is over its data quota. Account responsible for LFS bandwidth should purchase more data packs to restore access.

I confirm. Because of this and https://github.com/sarabander/sicp/issues/37, I can't download the epub.

could this be fixed by adding the epub as a 'release' on the original repository?

Here's another repository that has an ePub: https://github.com/ieure/sicp in the downloads page. It's built from a different source, but at first glance looks good in iBooks.
