Alt+Shift+w closes my Atom.....

Are you sure your keyboard layout is set correctly? With my US QWERTY keyboard, it is Ctrl + Shift + W that closes Atom for me, not Alt. While I agree that this is still a poor key mapping choice, it does not appear to be broken as you suggest.

option + shift + w works for me on my mac... note: command + shift + w closes atom on my mac... nice utility! thanks for providing it.
