Thanks for the link to those issues @kenmcd. It seems cascadia [fixed this issue in the font](https://github.com/microsoft/cascadia-code/blob/de36d62e777d34d3bed92a7e23988e5d61e0ba02/build.py#L135) by setting OVERLAP_COMPOUND flag in the glyph.
