Unit-testing infrastructure

Continued improvement of the infrastructure is highlighting some notable gaps in the unit-test coverage. Notably we need to be able to:

• [ ] Mock an already created environment (Externals feature)
• [ ] Mock concretization (environment creation)
• [ ] Mock architectures and machines
