Help getting terminal on Serial connection?

I am able to connect to the terminal in Serial connection but the problem is that i get to much Stdout i see the login prompt but cant stop it to get into the terminal. how to do this? i am running on linux. i see the press any key to stop boot but it has 0 seconds so no time to stop it.
