Reboot after Partition expand command, my XiaoFang camera is bricked

Open balintbabics opened this issue 8 years ago • 3 comments

I flashed the release img to my sd card with Win32 imager and after the first start the /status page said it has to expand the second partition (ext2), I pressed to execute it, successfully finished and said it needs a reboot to apply, so I hit the Reboot button.

Before the reboot I set the Cloud off (and deactivated it).

After that my camera won't come to life, only the orange LED lights, constantly right after when I plung into AC.

I tried to reflash the firmware (Setup button pressed while powering up) but it's not worked.

So what should have I do to bring back my camera?

From the README: "Currently there's no known recovery methode, i.e. an image to flash to the device when it doesn't boot, though you can solder wires to it and get access to a serial console. ........ As long as you don't completely disable the cloud apps (DISABLE_CLOUD=1), you can always revert to original behavior"

edit:

But I did just see this in the F.A.Q

"If for some reason things don't work out for you, there's a simply recovery method: in the bootstrap folder rename fang_hacks_rescue.cfg.tmpl to fang_hacks_rescue.cfg. This file is copied on boot and restores the default settings. So you need to reboot twice: first to copy the file, then a fresh reboot to use the restored settings. Note that in both "Wireless Client" and "Access-point" modes, the config files reside on the sdcard (wpa_supplicant.conf, hostapd.conf, udhcpd.conf in etc folder of data partition) so they can be edited offline. In case you're not able to access ext2 partitions, there're tmpl files for these configs in the bootstrap folder as well: modify as required and remove the tmpl suffix to have them copied when the device boots."

You'll need the recovery procedure, put fang_hacks_rescue.cfg in bootstrap folder and reboot twice.

Sorry, I've missed coming back here. I managed to bring back my camera with the method above, so this issue could be closed.
