Tooltip left on screen

Sometimes, every now and then, a tooltip remains at the top left of the screen on Windows, which is really annoying:

I have to right-click on the tray icon and choose Show Sequences to get rid of it.

I've gotten the same thing to happen to me a handful of times as well. It's rare enough for me to not notice a cause, but it's consistent enough to be an annoyance

This is happening frequently to me, although I can't really identify any pattern as to when it occurs.

I can make it disappear just by hovering over the system tray icon.

Edit: This appears to be the same as #350.

Happens to me too.

Hi! And thank you for being patient. I believe this issue may be fixed in WinCompose 0.9.11. Could you please test the new version?

Unfortunately I am still seeing this issue with 0.9.11: image

In this case my computer was just starting up (and so was responding rather slowly) and I was moving the mouse across the notification area (trying to click on the icon beside the WinCompose icon).

Possibly the bug was triggered by the mouse leaving the WinCompose icon before WinCompose has a chance to process the mouseover/mousemove events? Just a random guess!

Interestingly, I just saw the exact same problem with NordVPN.

I'm having the same issue. For me it doesn't get away by clicking 'Show Sequences'. Only exiting WinCompose fixes the issue. Happens mostly at startup of Windows.

Same happens to me on 0.9.11. It happens occasionally when resuming from hibernate. Hovering over the systray icon makes it disappear. Win 10 Home 21H2 Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4170.0

I am on 0.9.11 on Windows 11, and I am nagged too recently by the tooltip from wincompose which frequently appears and stays open, even without hovering over the tray icon at all. Unless I actively unhide the taskbar and/or hover over the wincompose tray icon, the tooltip stays open and covers other windows content. I guess the issue came up after I had updated windows to 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5027231) some weeks ago. I have all tray icons set to be shown in the taskbar settings, which is a security and usability issue for me. I have also set the taskbar to auto-hide so that it doesn't take screen estate when not needed. 249127457-bcba5954-4dfd-4e5d-b9ff-fbea6ffd6a23

@samhocevar can you please disable the tooltip completely until this is fixed? It gets in the way too frequently
