"Diaresis" should be relabeled "Diaresis/Umlaut"

I was trying to find umlauts in your program. I couldn't find them. So I had to google. Then I found out how to make them. I was wondering why I didn't find them in the built-in menu. Then I discovered that they're called something different: diaresis. I had never heard this term in my life. No wonder I couldn't find them!

In the interest of usability, I'd like to request that the word "diaresis" in descriptions be changed to "diaresis/umlaut", so that anyone who searches for "umlaut" will be able to find it.

Just popping in to say: diaresis is the english name for this diacritic accent, the german name is umlaut, it may also be worthwhile to also include the french name, tréma

In British English, it's spelled "diaeresis", not "dieresis". So the full list of redirects/aliases could be longer:

  • diaeresis (British English)
  • dieresis (American English)
  • umlaut (German)
  • tréma (French)

The names are the titles of the character according to the Unicode consortium. So Ü is "LATIN CAPITAL LETTER U WITH DIERESIS". Adding any other names to the list would be a huge explosion of the names. I don't think this is a good idea. (Note: typing umlauts and ß is my reason for having WinCompose installed, so I have some sympathy with the OP.)
