Issue with non-101 keyboards

Open Mitchara opened this issue 4 years ago • 2 comments

It seems that v0.9.1 and later versions do not work well with the Japanese 109 keyboard.

While 109 has basically the same key configuration as 101, some symbols are allocated differently. For example, in 109, <Shift + 7> gives <'>, not <&>.

In v0.9.1 and later versions (up to 0.9.4), <Shift + 7> → < a > with the 109 keyboard gives <&a> instead of <á>. This would be supposed to be the case with the 101 keyboard, and current versions apparently treat 109 as if it were 101. Version 0.9.0 and older versions worked fine.

@Mitchara I updated to 0.9.6 and it started working – does the latest version work for you too, perhaps?

In my case, it turned out to be that my language/locale settings were causing the problem. I had installed various keyboards for some pre-Unicode softwares and probably some of them had overwritten the key mapping for WinCompose. With 100% Japanese locale/keyboard settings, older versions as well as the latest one started to work fine.
