Terminal doesn't reopen

Sometimes the terminal won't reopen, for example after mpv stopped playing and quit the terminal still stays hidden. Running xdo show -n xterm unhides the terminal when this happens. I'm using xterm as my terminal and dwm as my wm.

Not sure what maybe triggering it.
