High CPU usage of vmmem process caused by wsl-vpnkit after long idle

Open 0u751d3r opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Hello! I have noticed that if I leave my computer idle for a while after wsl-vpnkit has been started, eventually the vmmem Windows process starts to consume excessive CPU. This is remedied if I manually terminate the wsl-vpnkit container with the wsl.exe --terminate command.

What commands should I run to diagnose the problem? I tried running some commands against the container the last time it happened but it was completely frozen, it took about 6 minutes to fully terminate too.

Thanks!

Hi @0u751d3r, Unfortunately, this is a general problem for WSL and not for the wsl-vpnkit distribution.

Please see the link https://github.com/microsoft/WSL/issues/8696
