Is it possible to customize cloned object?

I love this plugin. I've been struggling with my own version even with the guidance of this plugin. I need to pull data from another collection (because that's where the content is stored) and add it to the versioned model before creating the version. Is that possible with this plugin? I can't create a reference to the content collection, because that one is not versioned (pure translated content), so that's why i have to copy it over first.
