Was my suggestion not good?

It's neither bad nor good.

It's not a bug, nor is it a significant change, so it's up to saicaca to decide whether they like the change or not.

I think it's fine to leave it as it is so that you can change it yourself if necessary, but it may get merged, so it's fine to leave it open.

Should be default at this point now

I have reservations about proceeding with this change for two primary reasons related to aesthetics and user recognition:

  • Visual Incongruity: The stark, solid black 'X' icon significantly clashes with our application's current theme and existing color palette. It introduces a discordant visual element that negatively impacts fuwari's overall design cohesion.
  • User Preference and Recognition: Despite the official rebrand, overwhelming public sentiment remains attached to the legacy brand. A YouGov poll conducted one year after the rebrand (link) showed that an overwhelming majority of US adults still refer to the platform as "Twitter." There is no indication that this fundamental user behavior has substantially shifted in the intervening time.

Given the widespread user recognition of the "Twitter" name and bird icon, adopting the 'X' branding now risks confusing our user base without a compelling functional benefit. I recommend we reject this change until the new branding achieves broader and more definitive public acceptance.
