Question about edition of a clip

Open ozzii opened this issue 3 months ago • 6 comments

Hi, Since the latest update, when I want to edit a clip, it's open in word (rtf file). And also, after the change, the rtf file stay in the folder. Can we have a sort of an option maybe, that the edit is like the older release, inside Ditto? Or at least after the change of the clip, delete the rtf file.

Sorry no way to go back to the old editor, there were problems with the old editor and hard to maintain so i removed it and use the associated editor for .txt or .rtt on your computer. The edited files will be deleted after a few days. You can control what app opens by changing the default app for .txt or .rtf in windows or set the path in Ditto (options - general - advanced - "Text editor path..." or "Image editor path ..."). I still use wordpad, so much lighter than word, https://win7games.com/#wordpad.

A bit off top, but the removal of built-in QR-generator is also a downgrade — this disallow the use of Ditto in offline environments.

The editor was great. It was useful. I'm going to try with wordpad. Hope it works

I also quite miss the old internal editor. Even though it might have had issues, it fulfilled my needs perfectly. I'm trying to use Wordpad for rtf, but find it more cumbersome to use.

Would it perhaps be possible to reintroduce the internal editor and hide it behind an advanced option?

Then you can always have a disclaimer for it which states that if people find problems with the internal one, to then use an external editor, and thus don't have to spend time maintaining it.

I've restored the internal editor in the latest, it's used unless a specific editor is set for text or rtf.

@ozzii: This is an ITS. Please title tickets as issue reports, and indicate at least 1 affected version.

This is about an issue introduced in 3.25.73. This change, which is included in 3.25.96 and above, solves the related error I was experiencing with 3.25.76, and will likely solve the issue you are experiencing.
