Ditto goes back to top after paste

Open ElizaRunolfson opened this issue 1 year ago • 11 comments

Hello! I had posted this issue back in September but figured it's time to bring it up again.

Prior to last September, when I would open ditto, scroll down to what I wanted to paste, paste it, and open ditto again, ditto would open to the spot where I had left off. If I copied something new, THEN it would open back at the top. Now it automatically goes back up to the top no matter what. As I quite often copy a lot of sequential things and then paste them, this has turned into a real hassle.

As far as I know, I had not changed any settings or anything prior to this change taking place.

Does anyone know how I can make it go back to how it was - where opening ditto would bring you back to where you had left off pasting from?

Thanks! Eliza

I second that, I noticed the exact same bug, it's annoying.

Glad to know it's not just me, though if it was then it would probably be something I could fix on my end...

Do you think this is how you would always want this, to have the list stay where it was anytime you select a clip to paste? Or is it a different way to paste the clip that has it stay where it's at. For me i don't think i want this to be like this all the time, but if you are planning on pasting other clips from that same position it makes sense.

If you press control-c this will do this currently.

It would definitely work better for me to be like how it was before (staying in the same position). And as it would go back up to the top once I copied something else, it was never an issue of having to scroll back up to the top to find the things I had recently saved. I mean, the whole idea of Ditto is to be able to save multiple things to your clipboard, so obviously people are going to want to paste multiple things, and if they happen to be below the initial window when you open it, it's just a pain to have to scroll down every time and risk getting confused on where you left off. I think if there was a setting where you could toggle what happened, that would make everyone happy.

Just set Update Clip Order On Paste to FALSE in General > Advanced.

Unfortunately that just makes whatever I paste from wherever it is in the list show up at the top. I do have it set to FALSE, though.

Is this what you are looking for?

install the latest - https://ditto-cp.sourceforge.io/beta

Then go to options - advanced: Refresh view after paste = false

This is amazing!! Would love if you can make it a timeout. In other words after 10 second refresh view.

That indeed looks right, but I'm not 100% certain which button to press... image Also, will downloading this keep my clipboard intact? It won't reset anything? I'm sure it won't, but I just want to make sure. Thank you so much!!

Ditto Setup 64bit, windows will give you all kinds of warnings but you can proceed. Yes it will keep all your existing clips and won't reset anything.

Thanks, but the update didn't do anything. I don't see that new option in the advanced settings section. image I even restarted my computer just in case but no such luck...

Good news! The "Refresh view after paste" option is now there! There must have been an update or something that patched it in. Thank you! :)
