-No Group-

Open jokerrs opened this issue 5 years ago • 4 comments

Hey there,

I've been using the Ditto for quite some time, and there is no way to create an actual group, only a sub-group, which is quite annoying sometimes... Also when u try to right-click on the "-No Group-" and to go to the Properties of that "group" there is nothing happening. Also, it is possible to add a sub-group into itself. and then the group will disappear(it will be deleted)(image below). image

It will be great if u make a group to be a group, not a "sub-groups"

And after all, thank you guys for making such a good thing and making our lives easier with your program :)

Hey there, sometimes do wonder about that... though got over it right after figuring out there exists assign Group Hotkeys

Ditto this?, For me, the deepest nested sub-group has a key assignment. Then tap Backspace to head back to the top. Try it, hopefully this would be a way for you @jokerrs

hey !

i just ran into that same disappearing group issue...

quick fix :

  • exit Ditto
  • backup Ditto.db (in \AppData\Roaming\Ditto - just as a safety measure)
  • edit Ditto.db manually (i used DB Browser for SQLite)
  • locate the group (in the « Main » table / you can sort the table using the bIsGroup flag to display all the groups at the top)
  • change the group lParentID to -1
  • save the change

when you run Ditto again the group and its contents should be there....

i hope it works for you ! :o)

@p0l16r4f Hi, has this fix been working for you nowadays? Does it survive updates and Compact and Repair Database operations?

As for me, I'd be fine with renaming -NoGroup- to root or something like it, which should be simpler than changing lParentID, but it's a moot point if it resets from time to time...

hey ! i haven't done this in a while, but those manual edits which i had done back then have indeed survived updates (i use version 03.24.246.00 which seems to be the current version)… i don't recall using « Compact and Repair Database, » so i cannot confirm that part…
