Outdated site www.baikal-server.com
I am new to baikal server, so I searched the web to get some info about it.
The official Website seems to be https://sabre.io/baikal/. But during my search, I also found https://www.baikal-server.com/.
The last-mentioned site seems to be some kind of official site back in 2014. But meanwhile, the site seems to be outdated: It mentions "PHP 5.3" as requirement and provides download-links for Baikal version 0.2.7.
So my question: Is someone here, who can either update https://www.baikal-server.com/ or shut the site down?
look at the donation link, there you will find an email address that you can write to. jerome schneider is the old dev.
i would not take the page as relevant - everything is hosted on github and is also offered for download there.
the site is just out of date and no longer maintained. the last version of jerom was the 0.4.6 if i'm correct
why do you mind the old website? why don't you make a current one? contact the site admin, see above
@nillebor: Thanks for the tip, extracting the email address from the donation link.
I wrote an email to Jerome Schneider. Maybe he is willing to help.
From the perspective of a new user of "baikal server", I find it confusing, to find two Baikal-Server-Websites on the internet. So removing the orphaned one, would make this world a tiny, little bit better.
And I asked here, because I hope, that someone might have contact to admin of the old website.
As old domain is referenced on the divers search engine, could be nice to at least enable a redirection to new website. Then any search result could be return a correct url. We prevent to lost some users.
why do you mind the old website?
Because it presents a very outdated version of Baikal, and makes it seem the project's dead. Couldn't find any github links on the page either. I think it's very confusing.
ping @jeromeschneider
https://www.baikal-server.com/ does not seem to work anymore, so this issue can probably be closed.
Hmm, the problem is that the domain is still registered with someone (I think it's a company that just takes over expired domains). In the past year, someone hosted an outdated snapshot of the website but with ads. I think we can only really consider this fixed if the domain somehow finds its way to a Baikal maintainer.
