Problem you are having: Each time the dashboard is loaded, the installed Baikal version is compared with the lastest version available on Github. This function is hardcoded as an ajax request in the dashboard.html template (line 20-37). On each request referer, browser fingerprint and other data are transmitted to Github. This could be declared as a violation of privacy (by sensitive people).

Suggested solution(s):

• optionally configurable in the settings area as a checkbox (Check for Updates)
• check updates when clicking on a link (by the user itselfs)
