Crashing HA

Sometimes when this integration is setup, it kills the HA server. The host is fine (4357 reports nothing wrong) but all of Home Assistant becomes inaccessible. After looking at the logs, I see

After that there's a load of received 0: , then a couple NULs at the end of the file.
