Stage Manager recent apps area is applied inconsistently

I have Preferences:"Stage Manager recent apps area" set to 50 px. This setting is applied as expected whenever there is another app window that Stage Manager has minimized on the same display. However, I would like a way to maximize to full screen - 50 px whether or not there is already another app window open on that display. If I maximize a first app on a display, then maximize a second app, I want them both sized to full screen - 50 px so I can easily see the Stage Manager preview icons. With the current behavior, the first window ends up full screen, and the second ends up full screen - 50 px. I have to resize the first app's window after opening the second app if I want it to also be full screen - 50 px.

Sometimes I see inconsistent behavior even if there is another minimized app on the display. Usually I can get the desired full screen - 50px by resizing the window to be less than full screen, then maximizing it again. It can take a couple tries. I am typically using the window throw gestures to maximize, but I have seen the same behavior when using key commands or menu commands.

I would like to have a window position setting that always gives full screen - 50px no matter what, and another that always gives full screen no matter what.

I've seen inconsistency about this behavior with Rectangle and Rectangle Pro - that is what led me to try Rectangle Pro. Thanks!

Thanks for reporting. I've had a hard time reproducing specific Stage Manger related inconsistencies, and this is the kind of issue where I really need to be able to reproduce it to figure out what's going on. I still have an open issue on Rectangle for it as well.

Beyond that, there are users that want more control over screen edge gaps anyway, and it's on my backlog.

Hi, i have the same issues, it's the only thing bothering me right now. I also have 50px set, and i have to go fullscreen several times to get it tight : fullscreen minus 50px left fot stage manager.

Some window management tools always take into account the 50 px position of stage manager. When I don’t minimize the apps and use Rectangle Pro to split the screen into half, its behavior is inconsistent with other software, which is quite frustrating.
