Saved Layout does not restore position of Safari window
I'm using version 3.0.2 and am trying to save the layout of 5 apps on my main monitor.
All apps except Safari get restored to the saved layout on pressing the shortcut key I have assigned to the layout.
The Safari window does not move and if it is minimised to stays minimised even if I have the Launch closed/minimised apps
option set.
The other weird thing is that the pop out window never says Safari. It always says "Global" when I select Safari or Finder windows (see screenshot).
Any help in getting this to work would be much appreciated.
Thanks for reporting. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble reproducing this. At a start, could you attach your config, just to be sure I have something identical to work on? You can export it in the Settings tab. Also, if you hold the option key in the menu bar menu, then you can select View logging... and maybe we can find something useful in there. After the log window opens, reproduce the issue once and post the log.
As for "Global" selected in the pop out, this is because Apple has moved some of their apps to different directories and I need to update Rectangle Pro to look in those places when populating that list.
Hi Ryan,
Thanks for the quick response. I've attached the config and the logs of a few attempts to restore the window layout.
Interestingly, since coming out of Sleep the Safari window will restore its position when moved, but will not restore if minimised.
After a bit more debugging I think the issue is related to me having 2 desktops for the main monitor. I am trying to restore a window layout to desktop 1 with Safari minimised, but there is also a Safari window open on desktop 2. When I closed the Safari window in desktop 2 the restore of the minimised Safari on desktop 1 succeeded when I pressed the shortcut key.
Thanks for the logging & config, and the additional info. Until recently, I haven't used Spaces much, and I've been noticing these kinds of quirks. I'm investigating to see what kinds of workarounds I can put in place.
Thanks. I have also noticed that if I have two windows of the same app open: One on my main monitor and one on my 2nd monitor. When I try to restore a layout both windows are moved to the same position for that layout e.g. In the example below Brave has two windows open. One on the main monitor and one on the second monitor. When I press either shortcut both Brave windows are moved to the saved location of the specified Brave window in that layout. One hidden below the other.
BTW none of these issues are showstoppers. Your app has so much functionality that I can get around these quirks without concern. Just thought I'd let you know :-)
