Support for custom keyboard keys

Dear Ryan,

I recently moved to a Microsoft Designer Compact keyboard, which has a number of custom keys on the Function row (circled in image below).

Unfortunately, I'm not able to remap these with the current version of Multitouch. Would be great to hear if you'd be willing to support these!

Thanks and all the best

The media keys are handled differently than the rest of the keys, which is most likely why those aren't picked up by a recorder. Remapping keys is something I've shied away from in Multitouch since Karabiner is typically used for these types of scenarios, and it does add some complexity to the app that I'm not sure if I want to add in at this time. I'm about to release another app for remapping caps-lock as the Hyper key, and I'm going to see how things go with that app before I decide what parts of it I want to pull into Multitouch for key remapping, if any.

Cool, thanks for the in-depth answer! Will check out Karabiner in the meantime!

Just FYI: I'd gladly in-app purchase key re-mapping functionality in multitouch, if it meant not adding extra apps to my (already crowded) menu bar :)
