Capslock functionality not disabled on external keyboard when used as hyperkey

Open crblack82 opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Version: Multi-touch 1.27.41

I have an external "Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID for Mac". It is connected via bluetooth to my Apple Macbook Pro M4.

I have noticed that when re-mapping capslock to hyperkey, the internal keyboard properly disables capslock but the external keyboard does not. On the external keyboard, the green capslock indicator turns on when pressed and off when pressed again as if the re-mapping did not exist and it does in fact change the case. The external keyboard hyperlock otherwise works as expected but it's kinda annoying that it changes the capslock since it can result in surprises when typing.

For what it's worth, this did not happen with Karabiner Elements when using the hyperkey functionality there.

Also worth noting. This is not an issue when using the latest hyperkey standalone app (v0.43). It's only an issue with the embedded hyperkey feature of Multitouch.

Thanks for letting me know, and for the details. There are some slight discrepancies in the way that Multitouch and Hyperkey work, so I'll see if I can bring Multitouch closer to Hyperkey. I don't currently have an "Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID for Mac", so it might take a bit of back and forth to get it ironed out. I suspect that there's some sort of hiccup with bluetooth that isn't being nicely handled by Multitouch.
