Open TomyLobo opened this issue 6 years ago • 14 comments

To reproduce:

  1. Open Twitch client
  2. Create new profile
  3. Pick a name
  4. Select Minecraft 1.12.1
  5. Select Forge 14.22.1.2485
  6. Add ExtraUtilities 1.6.3
  7. Start game
  8. Create a new creative mode map
  9. Give yourself a squid ring and a creative mill
  10. Place the creative mill
  11. Make sure creative flight is turned off and hold down jump
    • You should rise high into the air
  12. Escape -> Open to LAN (creative, allow cheats on)
  13. Make sure creative flight is turned off and hold down jump
    • You should still rise high into the air
  14. Have someone else do steps 1-7, connect to your lan server and do steps 9-11
    • Expected: They rise high into the air
    • Actual: They do not to rise high into the air

Built both chicken and squid rings on a multiplayer server. Both worked right after I created them. The next day (after several server crashes and/or restarts) the squid ring no longer works. Next server restart I will test again. Have plenty of grid power, they say the ring is drawing the 16 GP it needs. Actually, it says it's drawing power even when it's not being used (not flying) I recall they only used power when actually flying?

well if it worked at all in MP, i wouldnt care about when or how much GP it's using :)

Finally managed to catch a ghast though (using OC hover boots and a magic boomerang), so I'm good for now :)

Another strange thing, but I think it's relevant, though not sure it applies every time. I connect to the server from two different computers, seems that the one I made the ring on, it works, and when I connect from the other computer, it doesn't.

You mean the rings actually work for you in multi-player mode? Can you tell me which versions of everything you use?

The chicken ring and the squid ring worked about 25% of the time. I'm playing on a server running the Foolcraft modpack, across various versions of that pack. There was never anything that seemed to make a difference as to when it would work. I would remove the ring from my inventory, place it back in, and it would read that it was using grid power, of which I had plenty from water mills, but most of the time it didn't work. Didn't seem to matter when the server was last restarted, which is advice I found on Reddit.

can you name one set of versions (minecraft, forge, extrautils) with which you know it works in multiplayer (at least some of the time)?

i have the same error on 1.10.2

The last version of Extra Utils that Foolcraft has is 1.6.3 for 1.10.2, I don't think that's changed in a while, I'm pretty sure even in single player I needed to reload the game after making the rings in order for them to work. On a server, it was random hit and miss, and like I said, only work maybe 25% of the time. I don't know what was different at the time I was on that would have made it work or not work.

i tested the rings many times, on singleplayer it works every time but on servers never.

@DwellerBenthos well that's 1.10.2. This issue is about 1.12.1.

Seems it hasn't been working for a few versions at least then.

I have same problem, the work around I found was load a SP game with the rings and fly, then exit and join Multiplayer and then the chicken/squid rings work until I next restart the client.

I can confirm that what witdy002 said works as a fix for this issue in extrautilities2 v1.6.3. I am not sure if this issue was fixed in v1.6.4.

I can confirm there is a still a problem on multiplayer in 1.6.8 (DW20 1.12.2) - trying to lift off (with the squid ring) jump skips the player really high, which is quite deadly without slime boots or something similar.

It works normally in a single player game. I can also confirm the workaround, where starting a single player game and using the the squid ring and the entering a multiplayer world let's the ring behave normally.
