option to make the calendar "read only", such that it doesn't react to click events?

This is not an issue, rather, if it's achievable, to have an option to make the calendar view in a model driven app to be "read only" so that it doesn't react to click events. This is a special requirement and I can't seem to find a workaround for it.

I'd like to piggy-back on this request with a variation of the "read only" idea with a requirement I have which is to show the calendar attached to a View on a model app with the ability to click on a record to open it as designed, but clicking on an empty space does NOT open a new record form. Users need to see and open what's been scheduled elsewhere.

If darb1985 nor my requirements are practical, would there be a way to intercept new or existing record forms that pop-up to shut them down before the user can interact with them?

BTW, this calendar control is fantastic.
