Subtitles will not download

I decided to check if youtube had some videos with subtitles and was pleased to find that it did. I set youtube-dl to work and it told me that the pages did not contain subtitles, yet I saw them with firefox so, I know they are there. I submitted this info here: https://github.com/rg3/youtube-dl/issues/2526 but was unable to resolve the issue. I therefore think it is a bug. I used both an older and a new, self compiled, version.
