Compiler leadership and succession
Meeting proposal info
- Title: compiler leadership and succession
- Type: non-technical
Summary
Leadership of the Compiler Team, and selection of new leads, has been performed in an ad-hoc manner. Felix has a document that tries to fix this by writing down 1. what the leads do today, 2. the minimum we expect from future leads, and 3. what process we should use for selecting new leads.
Felix thinks we should have a meeting to discuss this, before they promote it to a full RFC.

Comment policy
These issues are meant to be used as an "announcements channel" regarding the proposal, and not as a place to discuss the technical details. Feel free to subscribe to updates. We'll post comments when reviewing the proposal in meetings or making a scheduling decision. In the meantime, if you have questions or ideas, ping the proposers on Zulip (or elsewhere).
We had the meeting on 2022-04-22 (zulip log) and this is the document we discussed there: https://hackmd.io/2dnAg2SNS5CbRkljqLHaeg
The meeting participants all said "this is roughly what we expected to see and we are happy with what it says."
Next action item for Felix: Port the document above into an RFC and post it. Once that's done, I'll close this issue.
