Low-profile MRE

Open rusefi opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

For some PnP applications we want MRE to be very slim.

2x5 headers and even vertical USB connectors are not really required. The tallest required component is 100uF 50V C2 - on my boars right now it's 10mm tall.

Would EMZR500ADA101MF80G work? Shall we make rusEfi accept this footprint? 100 uF 50V 6.6x6.6mm Height: 7.7 mm

Do we require 50V? Do we have options slimmer than 7.7mm?

40+ volts Tantalum Capacitors cost $30 that's not an option :(

Tantalum for reasonable money means 35volts For example T52M1107M035C0055 $4 Tantalum Capacitors - Polymer SMD 100uF 35volts 20% 55mohms maxESR

@mck1117 says "The trouble with tantalum is that if you overvolt them even once, they can fail with a short, and then LITERALLY EXPLODE the next time power is applied "
