mail: advanced search hides results > improvement
When the number of search results of an advanced search is high enough to reach the bottom of the page, the view gets obstructed by the advanced search form. Even scrolling does not help.
The search form should not hide any other element of the application.
Ideally, the advanced search form would transform from the standard search into the advanced form and remain above the message list so as we do not need to look for it and then to move the mouse all the way down. Like this:
Very good suggestion @kotecky, and similar to what I've had in mind as well.
Oh btw, the input line that contains the "raw" search input (from:"peter" AND to:"paul") which gets updated when inputting the detail fields ("From", "To", "Subject", ...) should remain.
And a related feature request: few keywords could be introduced: me
(from:me, standing for any of my identities), today
, yesterday
, ...
A new input: Attachment filetype
.
A checkbox to filter messages that have an attachment (how to deal with inline images? preferably exclude?)
The suggestion was implemented in a way:
but the advanced search input frame hides the top part of the message list. It should not. Instead, the simple search input should be hidden and the message list should be pushed down.
@kotecky Agreed that this solution is not ideal; however pushing the message list down can also be distracting so we should find an even better solution.
@gtandersen i checked again the behaviour and understand now that closing the modal does not reset the form so the results are still displayed, the list does not get altered. Yet, there is not much of a difference between results pushed down and results hidden ... except the earlier being cleaner and not hiding the top results, that is likely those i looked for.
