This seems to be a user error. This error comes up when `’` is used, but it should be `'`.

dotnet is now version 8

I would suggest default should be "Always try" and then the user could specify how many tries to apply.

Last working version for me was 3.0 Beta 1 But I also updated my .NET SDK to 8.0.202 Desktop runtime to 8.0.3 Maybe this helps.
