[BUG]: Error returned when querying chain

What happened?

When querying the chain before the first block is minted the following error is returned:

Error: node returned an error: invalid request: could not find requested version in DB

Steps to reproduce?

  1. Follow the steps in the README for setting up a local chain
  2. Query the chain before the first block is minted
