Central API key signup facility that other services would run off (e.g. openspending, ckan etc)

Design

• Email, Name, Organization Name, Organization URL, Planned use
  • (no other fancy sign-up methods)
  • No password - you forget your key just sign up again
• Simple API for services: /api/1/validate/{key}

What's the advantage? Wouldn't it be necessary for every instance to use the okfn signup service? What about people who do not want to depend on us?

That's exactly the idea: a central API key issuing service for OKF services (not other peoples). So it would not increase dependencies ...

I note this was something of an aside re datapusher so we really don't need to debate this too much right now :-) (I don't want to distract from main task of getting that operational)
