Is the obseleted URI.escape method mentioned in any changelog?

Hi, thanks for the amazing work gathering the changes of each version!

I just updated 2.7.7 to 3.0.7 and found that URI.escape is removed somewhere in between. I couldn' find any official information about this change, only picked up a few pieces of information here and there. Do you happen to know if there's an official note about this? Thank you.
