Design changes discussion
The relaunch is a great success, the website looks amazing! :tada: After browsing around, I have found a few details I would like to discuss. Feel free to add your own in this issue.
Home page
- Search bar: there is some unused space under the search bar. Should we increase the size of the search bar to make it stand out more?
- The 4 squares ("Register now" etc.): it seems like the padding between the title and the text is too big, should we decrease it?
- The Marie Curie photo: we have already discussed it once, but I have heard feedback from 2 ppl that it looked old fashioned and that it takes a minute to see that there are changes from before, one of them said that Marie Curie with the microphone actually reminds them of customer service operator instead of a public speaker. Should we reopen the discussion? @salitkrac, what was your idea regarding this?
Profile view
- it seems like the padding between the upper section and the bio is too big, should we decrease it?
- Profile picture: Could we make the profile picture always in color and remove the hover? I think the hover is a good solution for the index view, but with only 1 photo it would be nicer in color.
- The section on the upper right side (Main focus etc.): I think it would make sense to move the topics up, to be just under the main topic, because both parts are about what the speaker is talking about, and then it moves on to where, how and so on. What do you think?
Footer
- Combuse logo: Maren will check with their ppl :) , or "supported by" bigger?
- Site map: how is it grouped? now there are 3 columns - 1 link, 4 links, 1 link. Could we group them otherwise, so it would be 3 and 3, or 2, 2, 2?
Header
- Again, a padding question ;): it seems like the padding between the navigation components (login etc.) is too big, should we decrease it?
Titles all around
- Are we making the titles the same font family as the text? It looks like this after the change:
what do you think?
Hello, I am going through all your comments and realize most of them refer to things which I designed completely different in Figma, but did not make it to production. Take a look a the home page for example: https://www.figma.com/file/aPmSe86hz49J8n1daelWUBDp/Speakerinnen?node-id=625%3A2713
I am also talking the opportunity to say once more that it would be a great idea to have a UI designer on board, since this website is prominently UX.research heavy, and I admit I dedicated 80% of the time for UX and have been postponing UI problems for too long. But this site can look muchh much better!
Here are some more answers in detail and I of course am happy to talk and discuss further. Home page
- Search bar: there is some unused space under the search bar. Should we increase the size of the search bar to make it stand out more? This was not designed this way, see specs in Figma
- The 4 squares ("Register now" etc.): it seems like the padding between the title and the text is too big, should we decrease it? This was not designed this way, see specs in Figma, including colors.
@salitkrac https://github.com/salitkrac, what was your idea regarding this? I agree regarding the call center! yet I do like the foto. I am open to changes. I am not sure what should we show in terms of a group or single person/POC or not, famous or not... this is why I never actualy made progress with it. let's discuss this :)
Profile view
- it seems like the padding between the upper section and the bio is too big, should we decrease it? This was not designed this way, see specs in Figma
- Profile picture: Could we make the profile picture always in color and remove the hover? I think the hover is a good solution for the index view, but with only 1 photo it would be nicer in color. Sounds good!
- The section on the upper right side (Main focus etc.): I think it would make sense to move the topics up, to be just under the main topic, because both parts are about what the speaker is talking about, and then it moves on to where, how and so on. What do you think? Again, in the final design we decided to dismiss "topics". See latest version here and lets take it from there

Titles all around
- Are we making the titles the same font family as the text? See the note in the Figma home page: there are two types of fonts, which should work great if we follow the specs

@salitkrac , thanks for all the comments! And for all the UX work! I guess we can discuss further next time we talk :)
Some solutions are in Salit's latest Figma board
