Description
Youth 14+ in foster care in MD are supposed to receive money deposited into a “Foster Youth Savings” account each year. In Prince George’s we’ve had problems with youth not receiving the money, or money not being deposited.

the social workers are supposed to make sure that this happens in a system called CHESSI. A lot of social workers still dont know about it and the CASA Volunteer has to remind the social worker. The CASA volunteers do not have access to CHESSI.
The Maryland Children’s Electronic Social Services Information Exchange, MD CHESSIE, is the Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) for Maryland. MD CHESSIE was implemented across the state as of January 2007 and is intended to ensure standardization of practice, enforce policy, provide easy access to information, improve workflow and automate federal reporting requirements of the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS) and The National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS)
We want to build a tool that will do the math for volunteers so that the volunteers don't need to calculate it themselves.

Questions? Join Slack!
We highly recommend that you join us in slack https://rubyforgood.herokuapp.com/ #casa channel to ask questions quickly and hear about office hours (currently Wednesday 6-8pm Pacific), stakeholder news, and upcoming new issues.
If this is still available, I would like to give it a try.
@compwron do you know if this is still needed?
