Remove authentic behaviour?

Open danyx23 opened this issue 9 years ago • 2 comments

I really like this code of conduct, but I think the first paragraph of "expected behaviour" is quite weird:

Participate in an authentic and active way. In doing so, you contribute to the health and longevity of this community.

What is authentic participation supposed to mean? And if someone is an introvert and does not like to participate in an active way, isn't that just fine as long as that person does not violate any other points of the CoC?

It is also noteworthy that the Unacceptable Behaviour section has negations of most of the expected behaviours, but it doesn't list "unauthentic" and "passive" behaviour.

I value clear writing and it seems to me that this phrase means well but adds little to the essence of the CoC.

I don't feel strongly about this and if there are others like it then I will not lobby any further for removal of the passage, but I think it would be an improvment to remove this passage.

Hi there, thank you for your input. I think this issue has been raised before and I tend to agree, "active" participation for instance is no must. Don't know when I/we'll get to it but this is definitely on the list of revisions.

Thank you!
