Make default location user-configurable in a persistent way

Currently the user can change the path that a repo is cloned to but can't change the value that is used for the default location. Thus if the desired default location is consistently different to the one set, the path needs to be changed every time a repo is cloned and the "use default location" option becomes pointless.
