No Watch History when player opened from home page or subscription page

As the subject says.

I right click and go open video in pop-out player on any video on the homepage or my subscription page, the video doesn't get added to my watch history. Is this a bug or just the way it is?

I'd like my watch history to know what I've watched and haven't watched. I used to use Iridium for YouTube but its pop-out player was removed by the author, then I found this so I could stop going into every video first again.

I don't think there is a way to change/control/fix this behavior.

The popout window is just the standard YouTube embedded player, so ultimately Google/YouTube has control over how that impacts your watch history.

There was a request to intentionally prevent videos in the popout player from being added to the watch history (#403), but I was never able to implement that request.
