Neither feather or vembedr packages are installing

We are still investigating, but here are some early findings:

• feather requires C++-11 and we do not have a new enough C++ compiler on the RStudio Connect beta server.
• vembedr requires R 3.3.0 and we only have R 3.2.0 on the RStudio Connect beta server.

Unfortunately, neither of these system dependencies are easy to change.

We will continue to investigate other alternatives, but do not have a short term plan for these updates.

Thanks for response - even if a bit disappointing There are alternatives   Feather is just superior loading speed and vembedr a useful wrapperPresumably you will match shinyapps.io in these respects when you come out of beta? cheersandrew

The RStudio Connect beta server is available as a means for our customers to see some of the features before installing the product on-premise. In an actual deployment, customers are free to install whatever R version, C compiler, and other system dependencies they see fit.
