[FR] Starred LaTeX environment with custom blocks

I posted a topic on Posit Community asking if it is possible to use the starred version of a LaTeX environment with custom blocks. The answer I got was that it is not yet possible in R Markdown, and it should be a feature request here. For example:

:::{.multicols .starred data-latex="{2}"}
Lorem ipsum
:::

This should result in this:

\begin{multicols*}{2}
Lorem ipsum
\end{multicols*}
