vega v2 support
Are you guys aware of the work @arvind is doing on vega v2, with support for declarative interactions?
Paper: http://idl.cs.washington.edu/files/2014-DeclarativeInteraction-UIST.pdf Video: http://vimeo.com/100936827
It should make some current interactions in ggvis
much easier to implement, and will allow many more interactions directly in browser without having to communicate with R.
The current work in progress is available publicly at https://github.com/uwdata/vega/tree/v2
It might be worth playing around with so that ggvis
is able to take advantage of declarative interactions when vega vs is released, or at least would be good to keep an eye on the progress.
We're aware of it, but didn't know it had a public repo. I have a pretty solid plan of how we're going to implement flexible interactive specifications in R, but it's still a few versions away in the roadmap
Now that Vega 2.0 has been released, is there any further clarification on ggvis
roadmap or anticipated adoption of the new Vega spec? Thanks so much.
Yes!!
