Question on denovo assemblies vs reference based

Firstly, thanks for this great work. I wonder if you could comment on the following: If I understand it right, the assemblies here are generated with known reference and Illumina reads used as "truth" to filter reads and correct assembly. In practice, however, people often do not have a reference nor Illumina reads. How would you estimate denovo assemblies' accuracy constructed from just the nanopore data and nothing else? Many thanks.
