User locale not respected by panel plugins on Linux Mint
More Linux Mint fun - the user's language is not respected by the Start menu for some strange reason:
I included the Run dialog in the screenshot for two reasons:
- Firstly of course the dialog itself is translated (so programs are correctly localised)
- The action buttons (OK, Cancel, Browse...) are translated (so the
libwintc-shllang
library is localised)
I am at a loss here - my only thought is perhaps it's some packaging difference ...? But then why would the shllang
library be translated and not the Start menu? They are both libraries.
This may also affect Ubuntu but I am too tired to try it this evening. Considering Mint is derived from Ubuntu most likely it is binned there too. This clearly does not affect Debian though because it works perfectly fine on my install so I have no idea what these distros are doing differently.
This may no longer be an issue following the change from XFCE panel plugins to the wintc-taskband
program, needs checking.
