The push button in the footer bar doesn't always work

Sorry if this is a duplicate, there's many tickets

The push button does work if your remote branch is selected. Otherwise it does not.

This behavior makes sense if there is no upstream set, for the current checked out branch. But it would be a nice feature to have the following:

  • to open a dialog box asking for a remote (and then set it), in case there is no upstream set and there is no remote selected.
  • in case there is already an upstream and there is no remote selected, to push to the upstream.
  • to follow the current behavior otherwise

This seems related to issue #152

GitX has a long history of various branches and versions maintained by various people over the years. This github org & repo are an attempt to consolidate and move forward with a current, common, community-maintained version. […]

Not sure if the issue applies to that fork as well, but it’s more likely someone picks up the feature request... ;-)
