Instagram (and probably VPN) incompatibility / unstability
Lollipop 5.1, Xposed 88.2, rooted with SuperSU 2.82 SR1, official Xposed Installer v3.1.4, near-AOSP stock ROM. If possible and needed, please give me a chance to provide you with my device's ROM.
Device freezes heavily after updating to Xposed 88.2 for a few weeks. Here's what happened:

Device sometimes suddenly freezes randomly, but I can still turn on and off the screen (with power button); however the screen freezes at whatever was on it that time. After a while, if I keep the screen on, the ANR dialog of current app pops up but I can't tap anything.

Keeping the screen off for a while, then I can no longer turn it on without forcing a hard reboot.

Turning off the VPN app I'm using seems to solve the problem, but opening Instagram for a while freezes the device as well.

After several reboots later, I can no longer use any VPN app.

Then each time I open Instagram, it freezes as I described above. Clearing the data and reinstallation of the stable version (I was in the beta program) doesn't help.
Disabling Xposed solved everything.
Also, it wasn't because of any app or module installed. I verified this. (Enabling VPN in my VPN app without Xposed loaded and then reboot with Xposed re-enabled solves the VPN problem. Instagram freezing still persists.)
So, conclusion, the problem I have with Xposed is Instagram freezing and sometimes apps can't create a VPN connection. Any help?
I'm sorry if you ask me to provide logcat; if freezes so I couldn't get any log from ADB.

- when I open inbox on instagram the screen goes black and instagram stops responding. I have to force stop it. I have been teying to figure it out and haven't found any fix yet.
