How to configure WebP Express on Bitnami stack?

I’m having some (well, huge actually) difficulties trying to configure WebP Express on Bitnami stack running on Google Cloud. The major difference between Bitnami and regular Wordpress hosting install is use of .htaccess files. So far all other plugins which modify .htaccess seem to work just fine after content of the .htaccess are copied to /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/conf/htaccess.conf or /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/conf/httpd-app.conf file. However, this is not the case with WebP Express. First of all WebP Express is complaining about missing mod_rewrite and mod_headers which are installed, enabled and working (used by caching plugin). This is probably the main obstacle in getting WebP Express working as moving contents of .htaccess created by WebP Express doesn’t help at all. I suppose the main question is; can WebP Express work in a nonstandard environment like the one from Bitnami? If it can, how should I configure it so that WebP Express sees Apache mods (rewrite and headers)?
