Having reference guide as prominent link is the right thing to do, but why waste a prime link location on the gallery?
I would rather put issue tracker.
If you don't want to direct normal users to the issue tracker,
- put manual rather than gallery
- or for developers

I think having the Gallery as a big button was to show people completely ignorant of ROOT what it is capable to do. A kind of quick look. This is quite common, see for example the "Examples" button of matplotlib: https://matplotlib.org . We did not have more requests in that sense in two years. So may be we can close this issue?
