Request for maintenance

Thank you for a very great package! Unfortunately, by now this repository looks abandoned:

• The Project.toml bump to v0.7.6 (adding Format.jl) never made it into a tagged release,
  so v0.7.6 failed to get registered.
• Last activity here seems to have been in April 2024, and there are no recent commits or tags.

Are there Co-Maintainers available to help out, if you as a maintainer are unable to do so? I will try to fix the Format.jl issue in a PR.

I have written an email to the address given for the maintainer, an excerpt of which is given below:

... as you noted in issue #41, Chess.jl still references the deprecated Formatting.jl package. Your attempted fix never registered due to a minor Project.toml formatting bug.

I have now opened PR #43 that corrects this and enables registration with @JuliaRegistrator.

Given the period of inactivity, I’ve also posted a “request for maintenance” on the repo and Julia Discourse. Please don’t take this as pressure—my intent is simply to keep a great package healthy and accessible for the community. If you’re short on time for maintenance, perhaps the community could help keep Chess.jl healthy—either via additional maintainers or by moving the repo to a Julia organization.

Thank you for your work on Chess.jl—it’s too good a package to let lapse.
