Wrong order of footnotes

Footnotes are rendered in a seemingly random order. Hard to find the correct one if the list gets too long:

They are not in a random order. They are sorted as they appear in the text. I think that is not an issue more like an approach to discuss. In my opinion this approach is better, but your troubles are understandable. In the end the sources are linked directly in the text, so it is not hard to find at all.

This is the default behavior of remarkjs/remark-footnotes which can not be configured at this time. We have looked at this issue before but the effort to make changes to the library did not add up
