Any way to enable sound recording on restricted apps with a rooted phone?

I am using a rooted LineageOS 18.1 install running android 11. I am trying to use sndcpy to recotd an app that seems to be restricted (see here: https://github.com/rom1v/sndcpy/issues/113). It seems to be possible using a rooted phone, but i am not sure how.
